A Good Man Is Hard to Find

By Tonisha Johnson

Rachel (Golden Brooks) and her girlfriends Charlene (Deborah Cox) and Monica (Melissa De Sousa) are realizing what they want in a man is not what their getting in their men. Rachel and husband Deacon Clarence (Darrin Dewitt Henson) find themselves in a marriage that lacks confidence on the surface but love deep within. Charlene and husband Bruce (Darius McCrary) can't seem to keep the love consistent in between the drinking, abuse and occasional infidelity. Monica' childhood friend Jasper King (Mel Jackson) is so trying to make her see him for who he is. Unfortunately, Monica is looking for love in all the wrong places.

Three stories. One ultimate discovery; that God is key.

A Good Man is Hard to Find creates a realistic of not only families trying to stay together but families within the church that seem to be flawless on top but flawed underneath the surface.

Golden Brooks portrayed the wife of a Deacon finding himself in God but forgetting to incorporate his failing family with is his love of the Lord. Brooks has done an excellent job leaving the ghetto superstar characters she normally portrays in other films like 'Beauty Shop'. She shows her versatility as an actress and is truly convincing as she so easily cheats on her husband without a second thought.

Some unbelievable moments are son Buddy who seems to be the same age as father Clarence. Better casting is warranted.

This great story line is intriguing. Excellent direction and great angles keep you from falling out of the film.
