Vanessa Williams plays
Julie, an on-purpose single mother not
necessarily looking for love personally
more like trying to develop a family
portrait for the sake of her son. In
between trying to add a man and mix
Julie discovers an interesting part of
her baby-making past that turns
everything upside down… in a good way.
Very funny and warm
hearted ‘And Then Came Love’ tells a
story that is familiar but rarely ever
talked about. Artificial Insemination;
lots of cultures can identify. And this
film hits all the bases.
Most straight to DVD
films leave something to be desired;
while not nearly as good as it could
have been with some scenes appearing a
bit awkward and dry, ‘And Then Came
Love’ does however keep you wanting to
watch. So much that you don’t fall out
of the movie. Bad films always make you
come out of the movie. When people begin
to talk and focus on their conversation
it’s hard to get the viewer back in.
Performances by Vanessa Williams and
Kevin Daniels keep you seated and
interested in what’s to happen next.
Even better, somehow
director Richard Schenkman managed to
use Eartha Kitt for only necessary
scenes; a positive. Her subtle parenting
skills portrayed as Julie’s mother
really comes across genuine. Kitt’s
acting tends to be over the top and a
reminder of her Catwoman days. Thank
goodness she’s average in this film
which works well and shows a different
dramatic side; one that is tolerable.
The DVD
features:
Behind The Scenes
Making Choices
The Mommy Posse
Deleted Scenes
Overall ‘And Then Came
Love’ does possess a great concept that
hasn’t been approached by many most
likely due to its taboo subject line.
Williams brings her phenomenal acting
skills to this role. Her personal
touches of attitude make this DVD a must
see.
