Wallace and Ace are friends for life. Even in a
hell zone such as Brazilian Favelas.
In the ghetto of Rio de Janeiro, Ace
finds himself living with his
girlfriend and infant son. While
Wallace is looking for his long lost
father. In the middle of mixed
emotions the local gangs leader
Midnight is having internal issues
with one particular member Fasto of
his crew. Soon, a war will end
lives, force choice and test the
waters between friends.
As the story is
told from the point of view of two
young men coming of age, the rest of
the characters fall in line with the
surroundings of the two boys who
find it hard to live long enough to
become men. Fatherless, Wallace and
Ace have had to look out for each
other. More like brothers the two
are inseparable.
Producer
Fernando Meirelles captures the
grimy slums of Rio' hood. A detailed
look inside the 'modern' shanty town
reveals poverty and struggle, sex
and violence. Coupled with drugs and
power portrays an urban landscape
that can be geographically set in
any part of the world.
