Hosted by Jerry
Punch, The Explosion – Nascar’ Rise
(National Association of Stock Car
Racing) talks about the beginning of
stock car racing in the rural south
since 1948; it has become an American
phenomenon.
The DVD covers the
phenomenon on a personal level. From
Richard Petty to Jeff Burton; from
traditionally advertised wrapped cars
the tracks and speedways amount to high
energy. All of those feelings and more
are highlighted in this 93 minute
reflection of this fast paced sport.
Race car lovers who
really get into the sport and inherit
its traditions should enjoy the film
that takes them through NASCAR history
into the present day. Defined as ‘the
working person of America’ is the core
race fan of NASCAR the film tends to
portray a struggle behind car racing. A
bit extreme in describing how outlaw
runners are responsible for car racing
but yet states their drinking, fighting
community has a heritage doesn’t quite
match the direction of the film and
leads one not to feel compassion but
more like confusion.
The Special features on the DVD include:

Gordon and Tony Stewart.

time in “The Evolution of NASCAR on
