Home of the Brave

By Tonisha Johnson

A story of soldiers returning home to deal with the 'normal' life. An eye-opening tale of what really goes on in the minds of veterans returning from the battle field. Sometimes wounds aren't visible to the eye. They run deep causing pain while interfering with daily routines of just living and breathing. That's what happens to the lives of these soldiers who deal with losing friends and gaining family whom they look at differently since coming home.

Filmmaker Irwin Winkler did an excellent job in detailing the mental catastrophe war instills in people; both those who took part in the war and those who indirectly took part in it; like wives, husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends. The intense stress levels spill over into all aspects of their lives trying to deal with crisis that seem small to others but are larger than life to those who are directly effected like medical paperwork or getting answers from the Veterans Association. How mental anguish is temporarily solved by prescription drugs; the incomplete feeling of the 'normal' society repels them back into an addiction of war.

The DVD includes deleted scenes with commentary by director Irwin Winkler, writer Mark Friedman and producer Rob Cowan and is presented in both widescreen and full screen format.
