Homie Spumoni

By Tonisha Johnson

Funny, funny and more funny. In Italian and English, the humor crosses over and makes for a great film.

Homie Spumoni stars Donald Faison who plays supposed orphan Renato. His alleged parents find him floating down the river in a basket; clearly a spoof of the Bible. Renato is raised Italian and doesn't mind that he's darker than most. He even finds great ways to rationalize the differences. Soon he discovers a new friend Ally (Jamie Lynn Sigler) who isn't quite convinced that Renato is an Italian but is so interested she ignores her raised eyebrows and heads straight for love. In the meantime, amidst their new found love, the past comes for a visit and Renato discovers he isn't all sauce and pasta.
