nominee Queen Latifah portrays a former
drug-addicted AIDS riden mother trying
to redeem herself by giving back to
those that needs help. As her true life
character Ana discovers her eldest
daughter’s friend is infected with AIDS
and purposely trying to kill himself,
Ana steps in to do all she can; a
gesture to help a dying young boy and to
show her daughter how much she loves
her. Getting back into her good graces
is a
feat hard to accomplish.

(Ray) and Directed by Nelson George
(HBO’s Every Day People), who actually
co-wrote the film along with Jim McKay
and Hannah Weyer based on the life of
his sister and their family.
