DVD REVIEW

  ROME: THE COMPLETE SERIES

Starring: Kevin Mckidd, Ray Stevenson, Polly Walker, Kerry Condon, James Purefoy

Rome: The Complete Series takes a look at Roman history and the building of the Empire through the eyes of two ordinary soldiers whose fate is entwined with that of the city itself.

                                                                                                                    By Tonisha Johnson

No one could resist the coming of Julius Caesar as he returned home to destroy Marc Anthony and bring his mother to his will. Rome's addictive portrayal of a time when the power of men were considered fearful and God like, is truly a masterpiece of imagery and cinematography.

Set in ancient Rome before the birth of Christianity, the Republic was existent and prevalent in the world, very commonly known to the people; the poor and enslaved who risk death if not pay taxes. People who would die, fallen in the middle of the street only to be disposed of in a nearby pond or river. We're thieves were made and survival of the fittest broadly encompassed everyone, from the peasant riddled with sores, dirt and contagious fever to the richly-robed empire; infantry and corruption, passion and infidelity were widespread behaviors un-favored but rampant.
