These stories were handed down from generation to generation. The story being the only vocal record of Haley’s lineage from West Africa, Roots was the first visual affirmation of slavery through a kidnapped youth of Africa in 1767. Kunta Kinte’ (LeVar Burton) character remains forever emblazoned in the minds of the 80 million original viewers in addition to the 50 million it has continuously captured within its 30 year existence.
