Aww shit. Here comes the return of the Wanna Be’s and Jigaboo’s; Step shows…”Ice ice baby. Too cold. Too cold.” And the word static!

In the Special Edition release of School Daze, Spike first resurrects 'Larry' Fishburne. And the beginning of his [Lee’s] quest to release a film every year.

Can we forget Lee’s dedication to certain film tricks such as the close-up where the actor talks directly to the audience or the moving background and still subject? And the endless dedication and loyalty to the same actors that have appeared in almost all of Lee’s films minus the cast of A Different World.

Was Spike sleeping with himself to get the part? Apparent-Lee cause he casts himself more times than I can bare to count.

Spike it does not matter if you do not have the starring role. You still seem to find yourself, glorifying yourself. Putting you in the spotlight. Damn.

Long gone are the days of films with a message. That ended with The Wayans 96’ parody “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central while drinking your Juice in the Hood.” And thank goodness…it was made obvious. Damn near pointing them out with a finger.

If you don’t know, Black Colleges give African Americans a chance to go to school. But that comes with a price. Even to date, they are considered party schools. The birth place of Freak Nick. And yes, the White Colleges have Spring Break but Black Colleges can’t help but be focused on for there party, stylish dress type ways. And that is definitely made evident in this film.

More importantly, Lee focuses on the still evident issue of blacks vs. blacks. The light vs. all other blacks other than light.

Ok. Forget the message in this DVD review. Back to the film.

So of course…you will be privy to scenes as Tisha lickin’ her man’s hair part and his sorority symbol burned skin. Yikes. The Kentucky Fried Chicken confrontation between Mission students and Samuel Jackson & friends clad in 70s gear and shower caps, “College don’t mean shit. Ya’ll niggas. And ya’ll gone be niggas just like us. Niggas”. And the one thing all men want…the panties! The 2 amazons in bathing suits starring at each other from across a crowded dance floor. And all of this to the theme music of EU’s “Doin’ the Butt!”

Special features include the Director’s Commentary, Cast Commentary, Three Features and Music Videos which show my all time favorite “Be Alone” w/Tisha on stage along side Jasmine Guy and others. That weave is gangsta Tisha!

Please…Wake up!
