The ladies of Lamda Sorority live to
step but one disgruntle sister decides
she no longer wants to share the
spotlight and soon a rivalry exists
between the girls within the same house.
Each group along with their regular
lives must work harder than ever to
score the stepping championship at
nationals because losing is not an
option.
Directed by Barry Bowles, Showstoppers,
starring Fredro Starr, Tamala Jones,
Clifton Powell and Faune Chambers, is
about coming together through
friendship, growing in love, and finding
oneself. Although clearly an upstart
film with great established actors its
attempt is applauded.
The different background of the girls
shows the director has done his
research. The south isn't always so
sudden. As more people are crossing
lines for better lives and economic
growth, it isn't hard to find a Puerto
Rican girl deeply rooted in the south.
