Not sure what the commotion in Hollywood was, about the public not ready to accept a bi-racial couple in regards to Will Smith’s comment on the storyline and actor choice for Hitch. But Ashton Kutcher and Zoe Saldana sure set the record straight when it comes to slapstick love between two different races on the big screen. A lot of Bernie Mac and you’ve added something special to the mix.

Meet the Parents. Meet the Jones.

Guess Who? A comedy about an African American family whose daughter Theresa (Zoe Saldana) brings home white fiancé Simon Green (Ashton Kutcher) to meet the family as the Jones get ready to renew their vows in a couple of days. Percy (Bernie Mac) has to “put up” with the sexual crude antics of boyfriend Simon and baby-sit him for the rest of the film. Just to keep him away from his daughter.

In between keeping the two apart. Percy has his own intimacy feelings to deal with as his wife Marilyn (Judith Scott) is not feeling the love of her better half. Meanwhile Theresa and Simon are dealing with the motions that most bi-racial couples face when committing to be together.

After a rousing roast from the Jones Family woman, Simon finds himself in a pickle that forces the couple to decide whether to stay together or not. While Bernie Mac faces a harsh reality that no book can get him out of about his own relationship with his wife Marilyn.

The racial commentary referred in the film doesn’t put the crowd on edge. It just makes them laugh harder and harder. Whether their black, white or green like Simon. Who laughs along with the family about how stupid racial jokes can sound. And although the Jones family gets offended after one too many “What do you call a black man?” jokes, the audience doesn’t loose its humor.

Guess Who? doesn’t keep you guessing through the whole film. It’s endless laugh on laugh structure keeps you focused and eager for more. The classic comedic styles of Bernie Mac and the goofy-like acting from Ashton Kutcher prove to be a winner in this film.
