Hereafter
tells the story of three people
who are haunted by mortality in
different ways. George (Matt
Damon), a blue-collar American,
has a special connection to the
afterlife. On the other side of
the world, Marie (Cecile de
France), a French Journalist,
has a near-death experience that
shakes her reality. And when
Marcus (Frankie and George
McLaren, a London schoolboy,
loses the person closest to him,
he desperately needs answers.
Each on a path in search of the
truth, their lives will
intersect, forever changed by
what they believe might-or
must-exist in the hereafter. |

Directed by
legendary
actor Clint
Eastwood,
Hereafter
carries with
it a
phenomenal
crew: Oscar
nominated
producer
Kathleen
Kennedy
("The
Curious Case
of Benjamin
Button", "E.T."),
two-time
Oscar
nominee
Robert
Lorenz
("Mystic
River",
"Letters
from two
jima"),
Tim Moore,
Frank
Marshall,
Peter
Morgan
and
Steven
Spielberg.
Even with
all the
talent
already
attached to
the film,
Clint
Eastwood
still needed
to add a
little
something to
sweeten the
pot. Here
enters
actress
Jenifer
Lewis
("What's
Love Got to
Do With It",
"Madea's
Family
Reunion").
Hardly a
"little
something"
Lewis is
every bit
the
attitude,
style and
aggressive
behavior
that it
takes to
play the
roles she's
encountered
throughout
her career.
However, it
is the role
of Candace
in Hereafter
that brought
Jenifer back
to the days
when she
first
started her
career;
bright
lights, big
city,
Jenifer was
shocked and
amazed at
landing the
role as well
as the
chance to
work with a
caliber cast
and crew.
How did you
land the
role of
Candace in
the film?
Jenifer:
I
auditioned.
I got the
call. I
jumped up
and down
like a kid.
I was
actually in
a toy store
when I got
the call. I
remember
standing
right there
going WHAT!
The women you've played throughout your career have lived... well for that
matter. For you, you've started out with such humble beginnings much like some
of the characters you've played. What advice can you pass along to other women
and men who strive to achieve what you have already accomplished?
Jenifer:
Take your
time. Then
you get to
enjoy it. If
you are
running,
you'll miss
it. Life is
a personal
journey. It
is about the
journey
anyway so
sit down
somewhere
and enjoy
this
wonderful
journey.
Jenifer:
I'm writing
a movie
right now
for myself.
I'm a firm
believe of
not waiting
for "they".
I think
"they" is
you! I'm
writing my
own show...
on November
27th, I'm
doing a
concert at
the Nate
Holden
Theatre.
It's a
fundraiser
to save
another
theatre, The
Rogue
Machine
Theatre,
that's going
down. It's
called "Tits
the Season
with Jenifer
Lewis". I go
to the
theatre to
get
rejuvenated
to get back
out there to
do other
stuff.
Look out for
Jenifer Lewis to
appear in the
new animated
feature film for
the whole family
"Zambezia"
coming 2011.
