The Air I Breathe

By Nicole Stevenson

The Air I Breathe helps us to take a hard look at circumstances beyond our control. Based on a Chinese proverb that says life consists of 4 emotions: Happiness, Sorrow, Love and Hate; each character plays a role in which they seem to intertwine to make The Air I Breathe a movie worth remembering.

Jessica Gellar as Sorrow was quite moving. Sarah Michelle Gellar is the one who has to display many facets of emotions in her performance. Forest Whitaker has done it again as the representation of Happiness. He experiences the thrill of having people stop in their tracks due to fear. The actors do an awesome job of giving the movie goers what they paid for as well as what you'd expect to see in a movie from actors such as Kevin Beacon.

This movie needs proper attention otherwise you might get lost.  The dialogue at times was blunt and straight to the point. With voice over from each segment's main character. The photography was captivating; images and close ups make you feel as though you were really there.

There are surprises and many twists. The Air I Breathe, plays out like a crime drama. Haunting at times, in the end you'll be satisfied with the message that we all must experience true emotions to really live.
