As
wonderful an idea it is to make someone
earn their rewards, it’s an even greater
idea to actually implement the idea;
especially into a film.
The
Ultimate Gift tells the story of a
wealthy grandfather who unexpectedly
passes away leaving his grandson Jason
Stevens (Drew Fuller) on a wild goose
chase for an inheritance that may or may
not exist.
He
discovers this true friends and life
lessons all the while earning respect
from his grandfather in death.
You’re
not sure what to expect at first when
Ted Hamilton (Bill Cobbs) gets the news
of the untimely death of his long time
client and friend Red Stevens (James
Garner). The heartbroken Hamilton must
sit to take the news and begin to notify
the family of the current state of
billionaire Red Stevens.
As the
family makes it all perfectly clear that
they could care less about Red’ untimely
death during the reading of the will,
attorney and friend Hamilton moves
swiftly as he reads off the assets left
to each member of the ‘family’.
But
Johnny come lately Jason Stevens almost
misses his chance as he makes a quick
dash for the elevator door. Hamilton’
calls move him back towards the empty
board room where his destiny awaits.
The
triumphant storytelling in The Ultimate
Gift is warm and rewarding. It grabs you
and holds you. The laughs the cries and
the discovering of oneself are readily
identifiable. As any audience member can
easily say ‘I’ve been there’; The
Ultimate Gift is just that.
