The Lord doesn’t work in mysterious ways. The Lord’s reasoning is obvious and at times blunt. The writing is on the wall. Nothing about those statements blindside anyone. As children we sometimes don’t see and don’t understand; and with good reason. Maybe our lives haven’t been the greatest and our world is in constant despair. We wonder ‘Why Me’ and 90% of the time we beg for life to be over because nothing can bring us out of our own sorrows.

‘When Women Worship’ destroys the belief that you are alone. Because you aren’t. Whether you believe in God, Allah… a higher power is waiting for you to trust and put your faith in him. Everyday won’t be the best day of your life but if you know God and place him in your heart… it is there that you can always go.

The album is accompanied by the book ‘When Women Worship’.

Mary Alessi: The coauthor Amie Dockery approached me a couple of years ago 2 years ago we started writing the transcript together. She did the script from start to finish. It’s a quick read. It 5 chapters that takes you through the process of what worship is. It’s beyond clapping and singing.

Why a Worship Book?

Mary Alessi: From my stand point in pasturing you can’t gage the success of church by conferences from shouting, singing… they come together and pay for it. Generally in a setting like that everybody is singing and exciting. But the grassroots… you’re watching the people who are walking through the doors they are the people who are looking for this. Worship goes beyond the setting of a service. Every moment of the day… counting the blessings. Sometimes we’re trapped in the form, shouting, clapping etc. God is saying I don’t care how you do it… You can’t worship God and not be free. You may have an understanding of it but maybe shame is holding you back from worshiping God.  There are barriers to our worship. As we tap into the intimacy of God’ presence… This is what we have attained. You’ve got to want it. I could put the best meal in front of you and everyone can tell you how good it is but if you’re not hungry then you’re turned off. You have to come to God and tell him how thirsty you are. The CD is a guideline to the book.

What was the process of the combining the book and the CD?

Mary Alessi: When we first decided to… we got our chapters together, we also used a story of each woman on the project and how God led us to worship… we had a meeting 3 weeks prior to the recording, everybody was ready.  I left saying that this was so much bigger… My sister said she was there. Cindy said I’m there. It was like putting together a wedding in 2 weeks. When we got together in that first rehearsal setting we cried and laughed. It was so anointed and powerful we could barely keep our eyes dry. Everybody preferred the other. No one was trying to take the lead. I really believe that it was manifested on to the project. That’s what leads to great worship when we ‘corprafied’ under the worship of the lord.

What are your hopes for this project?

Mary Alessi: First and foremost I hope it goes all around the world. Women and men; men understand how important worship is. Women are plagued with so many circumstances and issues… understand your shame keeps you from the presence of God. He eradicates any shame that causes us to be downcast in shame. He tells you to look at my face. Women should dig a deep well of worship. When you continue to give God worship when things are falling apart all around you, you just don’t see how bad things are around you. You have a huge well of resource of spirit. You were created to worship. Our absolute intended purpose is to worship. Singing is not worship. Worship is a heart of gratitude. Every move and thought was about God. I can’t change my story but I can tell it. But you know what I can just step on the devil and tell it without shame.
